Bridging Healthcare Gaps in Rural Guatemala
This project remains one of the most meaningful in my career. As a fellow with Parsons The New School for Design and the Open Society Foundations (OSF), I served as an ethnographic researcher, designer, and project lead in partnership with Centro de Estudios Para la Equidad y Gobernanza en Los Systemas de Salud (CEGSS) to develop a multi-phased platform addressing healthcare inequities in rural Guatemala.
Despite Guatemala’s public healthcare system, indigenous communities face barriers such as social segregation, geographical isolation, and language differences, often resulting in preventable diseases and lack of access to essential care. My role focused on designing a platform that connected marginalized populations with healthcare resources, addressing both structural and cultural challenges. This work was a deeply rewarding opportunity to combine human-centered design with social impact, improving accessibility for underserved communities.
